Do you enjoy eating fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate? We think that they're the perfect garnish for the world's best strawberry crepes recipe but did you know that they can also be a quick and easy dessert all on their own! Our simple dessert recipe will tell you all you need to know to make chocolate covered strawberries at home.
Ingredients:
Melt chocolate and shortening together over double boiler, stirring frequently. Note: You can do this in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl but it is very important to stir after every 30 seconds or chocolate may burn.
Once chocolate has melted, remove from heat. Holding each strawberry carefully by the stem, swirl in the melted chocolate. Set each berry on a plate covered by either tin foil or waxed paper. Once each berry is coated, put the plate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. They will keep for up to 2 days.
Hint: Want to make your chocolate covered strawberries even more special? Melt 4 oz. of white chocolate morsels and 2 teaspoons of shortening and stir to combine. With a spoon, drizzle each of the cooled chocolate berries with a little white chocolate. Refrigerate for another 30 minutes before serving.
Yield: 12 servings (1 strawberry each)
