Looking for Halloween appetizers? Your guests will love our cocktail weiner recipe for spooky goblin toes!
Halloween appetizers don't have to be complicated.
Make it easy on yourself by jazzing up your favorite mini pigs in a blanket!
Add poppyseeds for "freckles" and sliced almonds for "nails" and you've got a creepy treat that all goblins and ghouls are sure to snatch up!
Ingredients:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Roll out refrigerated dough and separate into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle in half. Place the first cocktail weiner on top of the wide end of triangle (leaving about one-third of the weiner exposed) and roll up in the dough, ending with the skinny end. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.
Note: Unlike the usual mini pigs in a blanket recipe, you will want to have more of the cocktail weiner exposed as the "toe!"
Repeat with remaining weiners. Lightly sprinkle all appetizers with poppyseeds. Bake for 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and let cook slightly. Take first appetizer and holding carefully so as not to crush pastry, make a small slit inside the exposed end of the wiener and slip the edge of a sliced almond inside to make the nail of the goblin. Repeat with remaining "toes" and serve immediately.
For an extra creepy touch, you can drizzle with "blood" (or ketchup) or accompany with our honey mustard dressing or swiss cheese sauce.
Yield: 16 goblin toes
